Minister: Only Hyundai, Kia, Haval make cars in Russia now
TASHKENT, Apr 28 (PRIME) -- South Korea’s Hyundai and Kia that have a stock of components and China’s Haval are the only producers of light cars in Russia now, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told reporters on Thursday.
“Haval… Hyundai and Kia have a stock at the Avtotor (car plant) and continue production… but it has decreased. Hyundai continues some production in St. Petersburg as well,” he said.
Manturov also said that UEC-Saturn, part of United Engine Corporation (UEC), will be servicing Sukhoi Superjet 100’s SaM146 engines.
“UEC, of course. UEC and us have made the decision. As to the (PowerJet) joint venture with Safran, Russians are working there… If the French decide to leave entirely then (UES-Saturn) will get the management and continue the operations,” he said.
